Trust Wallet warns of fake crypto card website

A fraudulent site used Trust Wallet branding and generous card benefits to solicit wallet connections; Trust Wallet’s security team denied any connection.

Trust Wallet’s security team has disavowed a website that used the company’s branding to advertise a cryptocurrency payment card, according to a report published by crypto.news on October 28.

Security researcher Daniel flagged the offer after the site promoted three card tiers with benefits including no identity verification, a spending limit of up to $100,000, cashback of up to 8%, zero foreign-exchange fees and airport lounge access. The site also advertised a metal card and an issuance fee of just $1. These were claims made by the fraudulent offer, not features of an authorized Trust Wallet card.

The application process asked visitors to connect their crypto wallets. A representative speaking for Trust Wallet’s security team confirmed that the website was not associated with the company and directed users to Trust Wallet’s official app and website.

A wallet connection alone does not automatically authorize a transfer. However, subsequent transaction requests or signatures can grant permissions over tokens, which attackers may use to move assets without obtaining a recovery phrase. Users should therefore treat unexpected wallet-connection and signature requests from third-party card offers as a security risk.

The report did not identify any confirmed financial losses, affected wallet addresses or the operators behind the website. It also did not provide evidence that Trust Wallet had launched the advertised card program.
