The Kem Card is a Visa debit card for personal use, connected to the custodial Kem app wallet. Card payments draw from a USDT balance; USD, gold and other crypto held in the app must first be converted to USDT before they can be spent. A virtual card is issued in the app, and a physical card is available on request for in-store, contactless and ATM use. Issuer of the card programme is Third National.
Fees. Virtual card issuance costs 0.00 USD, the monthly fee is 0.00 USD and the annual fee 0.00 USD. Foreign-currency transactions are converted into US dollars, with a foreign-exchange fee of up to 3 % for non-USD transactions. ATM fees are only shown in the app, and Kem does not publish a card replacement fee.
Cashback. Kem advertises 2 % cashback paid in Tether Gold, and up to 5 % in featured categories such as food delivery.
Funding. USDT can be deposited via Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum and Optimism. The app also accepts Apple Pay and debit or credit cards as payment methods. In stores, the card can be used through Apple Pay.
Eligibility and KYC. There is no KYC-free tier: full verification with ID document, proof of address, selfie/liveness check and source of funds is required before onboarding. Kem may request further documents for high transaction volumes or large transfers and can repeat verification after risk reviews. Applicants must attest that they are not US citizens. Cards cannot be issued to residents of, among others, Russia, Belarus, China (mainland), India, Turkey, Ukraine, Israel, Vietnam and sanctioned countries such as Iran, North Korea, Cuba and Syria.
