Status: discontinued. Brahma's official homepage states that Brahma is now part of Polymarket and that all Brahma products have been sunset. The information below describes the card as it was documented and is kept for reference only.
The Brahma Spend Card (offered through Swype.fun, powered by Brahma Cards) was a virtual Visa credit card. Instead of a prepaid balance, it worked as a credit line: at the moment of payment, Brahma's infrastructure borrowed USDC from a connected DeFi lending protocol against the user's crypto collateral and paid the merchant. According to Brahma, users kept self-custody of their assets; the infrastructure only held approvals on the underlying protocols, without withdrawal rights.
Key facts
- Card: virtual only, Visa, contactless; Apple Pay and Google Pay listed as compatible
- Funding: credit line against crypto collateral, settled in USDC; billing currency USD
- Supported blockchains in the cardholder terms: Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum and Optimism (the newer Swype FAQ lists different networks)
- Issuer: Third National; card issuance partner: Rain; operator BrahmaFi Ltd., British Virgin Islands
- Usage: consumer and corporate cardholders
- Fees under the U.S. cardholder terms: annual fee unknown, international transaction fee unknown, no cash-advance fee listed
- Limits: daily spending limits were set by the user in the app; no fixed limit amounts were published
KYC Identity verification via Sumsub with an ID document was required before the virtual card was issued, so the card was not available without KYC. Companies could be asked for incorporation documents and tax IDs.
Availability Residents of a list of countries were excluded, including Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Venezuela, Mainland China, India, Turkey, Ukraine, Israel, Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Vietnam, Nepal, Myanmar and Palau. Brahma's compliance policy contains a list that differs in part.
